V/A - G.I. Disco (BBE)

Subtitled ‘The history of the Cold War’s hottest 80s club music in West Germany’, you could be forgiven for thinking this would be a compilation of German disco. However, instead it’s a collection of US tunage that the GI’s were rocking to when stationed in Europe. It features awesome discoid efforts like The O’Jays’ sublime Put Our Heads Together, The Valentine Brothers’ jazz dripping version of Money’s Too Tight To Mention and Surface’s spellbinding Falling In Love. It’s a shame there’s no German disco on this compilation, but there’s some damn good tunes here all the same.
