V/A - The Sound Of The Ninth Season: Sven Väth In The Mix (Cocoon)

Another year has gone by and therefore it is time to look back over another season and a year of music. Cocoon exists as both a dancing environment in Germany and for the duration of ‘the season’ in Ibiza. The music of 2008 is celebrated on this double disc set, which has, as ever, been expertly put together by techno overlord and Cocoon co-ordinator Sven Väth. The misleadingly named ’Disco’ CD is a technoid mission, featuring dancefloor poised efforts such as Matthew Jonson’s elegant Symphony For The Apocalypse and Dubfire’s evil synthed re-rub of Radio Slave’s Grindhouse. The darker and in places deeper ’Invaders’ disc features techy winners such as Reboot’s wonderfully bassy Vandong and Joris Voorn’s dynamic Magnolia mix of Robert Babicz’s Dark Flower. This is another impressive Techy set from inside Vath’s Cocoon.
