Neil Landstrumm - Lord For £39 (Planet Mu)

Lord For £39 is nasty bass driven album that excites and demands a reaction. It references breaks, dubstep, rave and all manner of other abrasive musical forms delivering in an enthralling manner. Landstrumm has been carving out his own brand of electronic nastiness since 1994 and this LP shows that he’s been absorbing musical influences left, right and centre over the years. There’s a few collaborations on this long player with similarly bass hungry producers, which adds extra spice to proceedings. Highlights include the eerie Si Begg assisted Transmission, the fractured key heavy Old Rabbits and a restrained effort entitled The King of Malta. A magical bass journey!
