Seckou Keita SKQ – The Silimbo Passage (World Adventures)

Seckou Keita SKQ The Silimbo Passage (World Adventures)

At the centre of The Seckou Keita SKQ is the main man, a skilled player of the Kora, an often mournful sounding African ‘harp’ type instrument with the ability to melt hearts and minds. Hailing from Senegal, Seckou Keita also lends a hand with vocals and drumming tasks, and is backed by a quartet of players from various places in the world, who provide vocals and play a variety of European and African instruments. Together, SK and the SKQ create organic music that is very much alive and straddles both European and African musical cultures. Album tracks of note include a melancholic tale of betrayal entitled Bimo, the sonorous Souaressi and percussion driven Dingba Don. The Silimbo Passage is a beautiful Kora driven LP from Seckou Keita and his friends.
