Allez Allez – Best Of Allez Allez (Eskimo)
During the early 80s, this Belgian trio made wonderful nu-wave musical concoctions, with nods to African rhythms, post-punk ideas and loose discoid vibes. There has been a resurgence in the music of Allez Allez, partly due to the fact that their output has been excavated and championed by the nu-disco glitterati, which has led to their return via this compilation. This Best Of disc even includes contemporary remixes from Optimo, Quiet Village, Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas and Aeroplane. Ultimately, it the originals, such as the sublime African Queen, excitable She’s Stirring Up and beseeching Flesh & Blood that hit home. Allez Allez may have left the building a long time ago, but their music can still captivate listeners, more than two decades later.
