Tokyo Calling 2

V/A - Tokyo Calling 2 (King Street Sounds)

This CD focuses on the smooth and sensuous House that is so beloved of the NY based King Street Sounds/Nite Grooves family and originated in the vibrant US city. The connection with the Far East comes from the fact that this CD features collaborations between Tokyo and New York based acts and music by Japanese artists inspired that have been inspired by NY House music. The King Street Sounds imprint has a strong Japanese connection, both in relation to artists and behind the scenes personnel. The label’s roster also features US artists that are popular in the land of the rising sun, so it was natural they wanted to strengthen cross continental links with this compilation series. Magical offerings include the sparkling Danny Krivit edit of Jephte Guillaume feat. AK’s “Shining Your Way” and Kuni’s sympathetic ’Sugar Love Mix’ of Ananda Project’s “Cascades Of Colour”. Full of ear-catching jazz infected and triumphantly vocalised House efforts, Tokyo Calling 2 may only plough one musical furrow, but it does it with style.
