Kitsuné BoomBox

V/A - Kitsuné BoomBox: Mixed by Jerry Bouthier (Kitsuné)

BoomBox may be a London party for cooler than cool party types and fashionistas, who wish to dress up at the wrong end of the weekend and frolic to trashy electro, guitar driven stormers and poppity efforts. However, the compilation, released by the rather fabulous Parisian based Kitsuné imprint, lets mere mortals sample the musical delights of this fashion dominated, weekly part-ay. As expected, the music on offer here is very ‘now’, with choice numbers including Guns’n’Bombs riotous take on Chrome’s “Fancy Footwork”, Oliver Koletzki’s touching “Music From The Heart” and Simian Mobile Disco’s magnificent “Love”. Cooler than thou haunts with elitist door policies are hardly something new or particularly exciting, but the music on display here is fun and certainly not elitist, which is what matters most at the end of the day.
